OVERVIEW
Owned by The Carlyle Group, Accolade Wines are a global Australian organisation dedicated to the production, marketing and distribution of Australian wine. Their brands include St Hallett, House of Arras, Hardys, Banrock Station, Grant Burge and Petaluma. Accolade Wines one of the largest wine companies in the world by volume, employing over 1,600 people globally.
THE BUSINESS GOAL
Accolade Wines were using an intranet created on an unsupported Drupal platform, which had become outdated, hard to navigate, inflexible and difficult to configure. It also lacked a mobile experience for the hundreds of Accolade Wines front-line workers across the globe.
Accolade Wines required a modern digital platform to support collaboration and communication, leveraging investments already made in Office 365. The platform needed to be easy to manage and update with customisable pages and plug-ins to deliver dynamic and interactive content, as well as effective integration with corporate systems and portals.
A key pillar of the organisation’s purpose, vision and strategy is People – creating a high-performance, inclusive, diverse and collaborative culture. The intranet replacement was a strategic imperative to achieving this vision.
HOW WE HELPED
Working with Accolade’s IT Project Manager, WebVine conducted Information Architecture, Document Management, Search Strategy Workshop and Content Migration Workshops, developing a comprehensive blueprint for the intranet to deliver a single source of truth with accessible, trustworthy information.
WebVine provided advice on both information architecture and site design which were workshopped collaboratively with a mix of stakeholders from across the business.
The intranet information architecture and mega menu were converted into a heat map with traditional green, amber and red colours to indicate content readiness and delivery. Content migration was a significant project challenge, but at go-live the Accolade Wines team had successfully built over 90 pages and migrated over 200 documents.
WebVine configured a rich digital platform to easily create and distribute a variety of media types. Users can engage with content through likes, comments and shares. Active Directory integration provides security control and single sign-on ensures ease of access.
Having a geographically dispersed team, it was essential to support seamless collaboration and social connection. This was achieved with Microsoft Teams integration, allowing people to search for someone in the staff directory, start a Teams chat with them, share documents or recognise them for a job well done.
BUSINESS OUTCOMES
Accolade’s new Injio intranet “The B@ck Label” is a mobile-optimised platform built on SharePoint Modern with an engaging design that reflects Accolade Wines’ corporate branding.
Using SharePoint Online and taking advantage of the SharePoint mobile app, all employees can stay up to date with the latest news, share information or look up a colleague regardless of whether they’re on the road, in an operational site or out in a vineyard. The ease of uploading content and media means that every story around the globe hits The B@ck Label in real time.
Accolade Wines team members can communicate more effectively and naturally, with the Injio intranet providing a centralised channel with a user-friendly interface. Information is presented and ordered intuitively with no more than 3 clicks to the right page. Users can personalise their experience by bookmarking frequently accessed links to pages, people and documents. Across 20 countries worldwide, 74% of Accolade Wines employees access The B@ck Label every week.
This new platform has significantly reduced IT support, freeing up valuable resources to work on other business critical initiatives, and avoiding or deferring the cost of over 315 man hours.
The use of online forms to replace unstructured email requests or manual forms has resulted in significant time savings and reduction in rework associated with incomplete forms.
