How this Australian NFP provides better client service by increasing productivity, efficiency and staff engagement with a SharePoint intranet

OVERVIEW

Disability Services Australia (DSA) was founded by a group of parents looking to create employment opportunities for their children. DSA have grown from humble beginnings in 1957 to employ almost 1,500 people and provide a range of supports for thousands of people each year. With the introduction of the NDIS, people with a disability now choose their preferred providers of disability services under an individual support plan. This has made the disability sector much more competitive but also there is a lot of opportunity. Providers have had to become more customer-focused, creative and innovative.

THE BUSINESS PROBLEM

Disability Services Australia’s (DSA) goal is enhancing the lives of people with disabilities. In the face of the changing sector landscape it needed stay relevant through better use of technology: increasing productivity, efficiency and staff engagement and ultimately providing better services to clients. Additionally, DSA need to stay true to its core value of enabling users with a wide range of age, ability and technology experience, and deliver a strong mobile user experience and maximising user adoption.

HOW WE HELPED

WebVine worked with Disability Services Australia to identify the best ways to leverage existing technology, and which areas would bring the most value in terms of savings gained and people impacted. The resulting recommendations comprised the following:

  • A new Digital Workplace to host essential resources and facilitate collaboration
  • Clear governance framework for decision making processes
  • Content management strategy including workflows, permissions and content creation methods
  • A people-first strategy to ensure strong user adoption regardless of age, disability or technology comfort, compliant with WCAG AA standards, NSW Ministry of Health Disability Inclusion Action Plan and associated policies

BUSINESS OUTCOMES

The new Injio Digital Workplace for DSA delivers essential communications to staff and volunteers, facilitates process efficiencies, provides decision-making support through information dashboards and digital records management for over 1,000 documents.
Comprehensive training documentation means DSA can easily manage their own content in SharePoint and make changes to pages and menus when required.
WebVine will continue to deliver new modules and create enhancements to Injio to help DSA further strengthen their staff engagement and continue to deliver valuable services to their clients.
