Richard Crookes Construction - Injio Intranet Case Study

OVERVIEW

Richard Crookes Constructions (RCC) are an Australian, family-owned construction company delivering future-focused social infrastructure since 1976. With an 800-strong workforce, RCC operations span NSW, Queensland and the ACT, delivering projects from affordable housing to commercial spaces to fire stations and community arts precincts.

The company has built a collaborative culture empowering their teams to conceive innovative solutions, build spaces and communities that people love, and work safely to protect each other and the environment.

THE BUSINESS GOAL

Richard Crookes’ intranet goals were very clear. The team were looking to replace their existing platform with a new SharePoint modern intranet solution that would:

• Build culture and communicate effectively
• Provide the tools people need to get their job done
• Support new employees
• Create a culture of learning and ensure safety and compliance

Richard Crookes has a substantial outdoor workforce, and therefore required the service to be accessible regardless of device or location. The solution needed to leverage Microsoft Teams and SharePoint functionality and integrate with Active Directory to provide employees with a single reference point for contacts, tools and information.

HOW WE HELPED

Using the Injio intranet built on Microsoft SharePoint, WebVine created an intranet solution incorporating communications, staff engagement, knowledge base and quick access to priority platforms and tools. Acting as a single source of truth, this intranet was designed to be the one-stop-shop for end user engagement with Richard Crookes’ systems.

The project team worked closely with RCC stakeholders to assess user requirements across the different areas of the company. The team identified seven major topic areas and used distinctive colours to identify topic content throughout the intranet.

News and announcements are visually engaging and targeted according to project or department. Alerts are quick to post and help staff stay up to date with essential standards, laws and guidelines.

The RCC team put in an incredible effort to create, refine and publish hundreds of pages of helpful information to support their staff. Detailed content libraries provide essential policies, procedures and regulation as well as templates for setting up new projects, insurance, legal actions, project plans, crisis communications, subcontractor agreements and payments.

A new employee onboarding hub with activity checklists was delivered to inform and engage new employees from day one. A dedicated How To’s section provides succinct instructions for project management and internal processes… even a form for ordering RCC branded clothing!

BUSINESS OUTCOMES

The new Injio intranet, Richard Crookes HQ, delivers a unified, interactive communication channel that keeps RCC teams informed and engaged, no matter where they are. Easy to use content creation, approval and publishing, using metadata to provide relevant information and new distribution options ensure that communications are relevant and effective. RCC socials leverage Yammer for peer to peer communications celebrating personal milestones as well as a photo gallery for project launches, team events and awards.

The people directory can be queried according to project, division or department, providing a single source of truth and connecting people with one click.

An innovative integration with Dynamics 365 allows on-site workers to access essential information about each worksite: location, project manager and safety details. This saves a lot of time on site by ensuring visitors are adequately prepared.

Richard Crookes launched their new intranet with a fabulous video and it is already proving to be a great success, with positive comments from users and administrators alike – general feedback (direct quotes):
